Rehabilitation is a partnership between V.E.S.I.D. and various community service programs, schools and employers.

Jose G.is a student transiting from P.S. 721X and preparing for the world of work. Jose enjoys people interaction and has decided to pursue becoming a mailroom technician as his career path.

picture of mary and veronicaThe school transition linkage coordinator for McSweeney O.T.C. referred Jose G. to the assigned V.E.S.I.D. vocational rehabilitation counselor for vocational assessment, training and job placement. She discusses Jose’s transition plan, his needs and strengths.

PS721XThe V.E.S.I.D. vocational rehabilitation counselor meets with Jose G. and his mother in her office to provide counseling and guidance. She engages Jose in career planning. Jose visited several mailroom training programs and decided with the V.E.S.I.D. counselor that he would like to attend the Contemporary Guidance Center.

John at Work in the MailroomNine months later Jose G. graduates from the Contemporary Guidance Center.  With a certificate as a mailroom technician, Jose received assistance with preparing his resume, employer expectations and dress for success. With these tools Jose interviewed for several positions and was successfully hired as a mailroom technician in a major lawfirm in Manhattan.
